There is a lot of history about Chrysler LeBaron as it used to be a luxury car in 1930s. The name LeBaron comes from the fact that LeBaron designed its body and Chrysler developed the chassis. LeBaron used to compete with other luxury cars at that moment such as Lincoln and Packard. It is known to be one of the longest running nameplates in the history of Chrysler. Therefore there have been several generations of the LeBaron until now.
An interesting fact about the LeBaron is that it is somehow mechanically identical to the Aries and Reliant. It underwent major changes in 1986 and 1987 when it was facelifted due to some reasons. The car was powered by Chrysler's 2.2 liter inline-4 engine, later replaced by a 2.5 L TBI version generating 100 hp. Later on a turbocharged engine was added with latest features that greatly improved the working of the LeBaron.
