The Latest Model by AC cars- AC 378 GT Zagato
Auto Carriers Ltd. Or so it was called in 1911, AC is a private automotive industry in the United Kingdom. It was founded by the Weller Brothers in 1901 and had its first full fledged production in 1904. It is known for being one of the oldest car makers in Britain to be working independently. Initially, it produced three wheeled auto carriers, from where the name of the brand originated as well. As late as in 1913 its first four wheeled car was produced, a two-seater which had a gearbox attached to the rear axle. Although owing to the First World War its production had to be stopped.
Photo 1:The Weller Engine- an overhead cam 6 cylinder engine, is probably the second longest lived production, manufactured in 1919 (post the WWI) and ran production till 1963. This record holds second only to Volkswagen boxer. Since long nothing was heard of the brand AC until in 2012 when it simultaneously premiered three models at Geneva Motor Show, 2012. These included- AC MK VI, AC MK II and AC 378 GT Zagato.
The Zagato was proposed to initially be a part of the European market and to be later made available globally. This was a result of the alliance between AC and Zagato, who first joined hands in 1957 and produced AC Ace Bristol Zagato one off. This played a very important role in increasing the popularity of the brand. Powered by a V8 engine and with acceleration claimed from 0-60 mph at 4.0 seconds is only a beginning of its remarkable qualities. Tuned to deliver 434 HP, its maximum speed is 185mph. This is only a start to AC’s plan of a global comeback. Keep in touch with us for latest car and automobiles news updates!
