Coming forth into the spotlight in a series of compactly devised pick-up trucks that are manufactured as well as marketed by Japanese producer Toyota, the Hilux, is one bright star in the spotlessly dark night. Several countries have used the Hilux name for the time period of the entire life line of the series, however, in North America, the Hilux proper noun got an early retirement as soon as, in the year 1976 in communion with the Truck, the Pickup Truck, or the Compact Truck, for that matter.
