The Chevrolet Corvette is the product of General Motors Chevrolet division and was a sports model car spanning seven generations. The first Corvette was designed by Harley Earl in 1953 and introduced as a concept car at GM Motorama. Based on the warship named Corvette, the naming of the car was credited to Myron Scott. The car was initially manufactured at Flint, Michigan and St. Louis Missouri and later on switched over to Bowling Green, Kentucky where it is now being manufactured. Chevrolet Corvette incidentally is the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s official sports car. The car has been used 12 times in the Indianapolis 500 pace car. The next generation Corvette to be introduced in 2011 as a model year as been under development since 2007. It was finally shown off as 2014 model year and has been considered for rear-engine and mid-engine layouts. However the rear wheel platform and front engine layout has been finalized in order to keep the cost down.
