The earlier name of Daewoo Leganza was V100 and it was produced by Daewoo. The production of the Leganza was started in 1997 and was stopped in 2002. The story behind the name of Daewoo Leganza is that it comes from two Italian words elegante (elegant) and forza (power). It was the project of Daewoo to start producing a line of proprietary vehicles that would replace the old GM vehicles.
The interesting thing about the Daewoo Leganza is that it was equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, 5-speed manual, hubcaps, cloth trim and all the standard power options. The unique feature was that it had an optional 4-speed, hydraulically operated transmission which could be adjusted but the ride quality was poor. However, the Leganza was a front wheel car which was available with a 4 door sedan body only. It came with a 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic transmission.
