This mini MPV was manufactured by Daihatsu in the beginning of 2000 and it generated good sales for Daihatsu over the time. There is a lot of speculation about the name of the car but the official news is that it stands for Young Recreational Vehicle. This is because it is aimed for young mothers. A list of engines used in the Daihatsu YRV are: EJ-VE, K3-VE2, K3-VE, K3-VET and K3-VET-R.
A 4 wheel drive is also available with the name of 4Trak and it is available only with K3 versions and so on. Due to its high demand, Daihatsu decided to produce it in large numbers and offered it for sale in different regions too. It underwent a few facelifting phases but there was no major changes in it and stayed pretty much the same. It is still owned by thousands of drivers, most of whom are young mothers who have to carry a number of children in it.
