land rover series ii

Land Rover Series II was the successor of Series I and produced between 1958 till 1961. It was available in 2200 mm (88”) and 2800 mm (109”) wheelbases which were basically known as SWB and LWB. Land Rover Series II was first of its kind which has got the attention of David Bache, the chief stylist in Rover. He designed waistline of ‘barrel side’ and covered the wider track of the vehicle. It has introduced the rounded roof and curved side windows in Land Rover Series II. For using the world-renowned petrol engine of 2.25 liter, it was introduced as first vehicle of its kind. Due to this larger sized engine, it has provided power of 54 kW or 72 HP. Due to this feature, Land Rover II has become standard unit of Land Rover series until the middle of 1980s due to the popularity of diesel engines.
