Lexus GS is the product of Toyota’s luxury division and is a mid-size executive car. Between 1991 and 2004 the vehicle was marketed under the name of Toyota Aristo in Japan. The Lexus GS was designed for a performance sedan to compete in the middle luxury class. The vehicle is classified between the full-size flagship LS and the entry level compact executive IS model. The GS also shares the timeless Toyota platform, S-series which had been in use in several Toyota premium sedan generations. Since 1993 the world has seen four generations of the GS and each of them had the rear-wheel drive and the 6-cylinder engine. The second and third generations were found with the V8 engines and AWD, and the hybrid version was unveiled in 2005. The initials GS stands for Grand Sedan and the Lexus GS and the Aristo though identical in designs differed in engines, transmission and equipment packages.
