A 6-door Mini Clubman Concept is about to see the auto market
It took the mini two generations before it came up with a redesigned Cooper hardtop as Clubman with three plus one door, but people actually wanted a 5-door Mini which had proper doors. With the countryman crossover it almost hit the magic blueprint, but it left people seeking a Volkswagen Golf or GTI. Finally it looks like that Mini officially is testing a not five, but a six door clubman concept.
Photo 1: MINIIt was a well known fact that Mini was working a formula for a longtime for its hardtop and the spy images of the prototype being tested were flashed in November 2012. As said by Jochen Goller, the Vice President of Mini that the 5-door market is something you cannot ignore. He almost admitted that the Mini was going ahead with a 5-door model and left the rest to Pat McKenna, US Product Manager to explain the existence of the model.
What McKenna said afterwards predicted the end of the outgoing Clubman model and if the new version is going to don the name then there is no chance of the 3 plus 1 door Clubman existing in the future. Let us find out what the new Clubman has got in store.
Photo 2: A 6-door Mini Clubman Concept is about to see the auto marketMini had actually decided to introduce the new model to the world in the most luxurious multi-door hatchback form and the Clubman exudes luxury from every inch. It is not just the addition of some fancy leather, but Mini had gone to the length to make it gorgeously luxurious. More chrome has been added to the exterior with thin linear strips and there are no wide open intakes, and no grill work in mesh. The grille now sports delicate bands of chrome and the front and back face is more clean now and upscale.
Clubman concept is dimensionally larger than the hardtop and is a good 14.4 inches longer and 4.6 wider than the lengthiest Mini Cooper.
