Engine Manufacturing Capability strengthened for Daihatsu Malaysia
Today Daihatsu Motor Company Limited announced that it will be establishing a production plant for engines in Malaysia. The said company will be established jointly by Daihatsu with a local holding company which will take care of the operation and Daihatsu has shares in the local company. Daihatsu is strengthening its base for local operation by working on structural transformation in Malaysia which has been determined as the platform for overseas operations and a key base.
Photo 1: DAIHATSUThe new plant is scheduled to commence operation by the Perodua’s new company for manufacturing automobiles in the middle of 2014. The Daihatsu group in its entirety would push forward with the transformation of structures related to vehicle manufacturing operations, engines and automatic transmission. This step has been taken to speed up the efforts for competing in the international market
Name of the new company is yet to be determined and as per plans the company will be founded by the end of July 2014. The new plant will be undertaking business activities such as production and sales of automotive engines, design, development and sales of engine production accessories. An estimated 165 million Malaysian Ringgit which is approximately 5 billion yen will be invested and Daihatsu will be contributing the 51% of its. The rest 49% will be paid up by the Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd. The new plant will be approximately employing 150 people for operations. It is spread in an area of 142, 000 sqm and located at Sendayan TechValley, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan State, Malaysia.
