Fiat limiting Lancia production to just one model for Italy
It is a well known fact that Lancia has been on the downslide for years. This will be disheartening to Lancia fans to know what Sergio Marchionne has in his mind for the marque next. While talking to La Repubblica, the Italian newspaper he pointed out that production of Lancia will be limited to just one model and that will be also marketed just to Italy.
Photo 1: FIATIf this plan materializes into action this is another negative step being taken for the declining marque by Fiat. This unforgettable brand was founded in 1906 and gave timeless wonders such as Fulvia, Flavia, Delta and Stratos, and matched shoulders with the likes of Ferrari, Maserati and Alfa Romeo was lauded as one of the greatest ever Italian automobile brand. But when it joined the Fiat group along with those automobile brands in 1969 it struggles to find a place in the group began. Now the brand has been restricted to just selling the Delta Hatchback, Ypsilon supermini and rebadged versions of Chryslers as a proxy marketer for Europe. In spite of this it is not selling any vehicle in the UK!
The current Delta model is in the market since 2008 and sales has been hitting the bottom indicating that it will be axed from the production line, leaving only the Ypsilon as the sole model of Lancia in the market. With the Chrysler group joining Fiat chances of Lancia standing as an exclusive Italian brand seems remote because it is hard to imagine the Ypsilon lasting its lifespan.
