Lotus has announced the release of its latest creation the Lotus Esprit at the Tokyo Moto expo in July 2014. This car is also to make its debut at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show, and will supposedly go on sale in Tokyo in August 2014. According to the experts of chassis designing, the company has not released much regarding this car other than the Aluminium body panel’s usage. The higher models of the Espirit have more of carbon fibre used in them. However Lotus took everyone by surprise by releasing the news about the power-trains of this car. Surprisingly, Lotus had revealed plans for a newer engine that would be developed in-house. The outcome is a 4800 cubic centimetre V-8 engine that features direct injection system. The engine had four valves per cylinder, along with a flat-plane crank and usage of dry-sump lubrication. There was unconfirmed news about variable valve timing and minimum redline of 9000 rpm being introduced into the vehicle. The car has been made compact, thus measuring merely 620 mm (24.4 in.) in length, while it weighs around 140 pounds less than ISF that is supercharged. The company is yet to release final horsepower figures; however it is targeted to be minimum 570 bhp.
