The new Leon Cupra, the most powerful ever from Seat revealed

Seat has unveiled its all powerful Leon Cupra, a performance hatch, to the auto world.  The new hatch is offered in the options of 261bhp or 276bhp if you are going for the 280ps editions. The petrol engine is the same 2-ltre as it is in the Golf GTI fine tune to spew more power, precisely 49bhp more. This brings the car with the Vauxhall’s Astra VXR in the power range.  It is the most powerful and the quickest from the Seat stable.

This immense power will catapult the car to a 5.7 second 62mph speed from a standstill and a 155mph at peak. You shall require spending an extra amount of £1, 285 on the DSG to get it. If your intentions are to go for the hand operated manual gearbox which is less powerful than the speed will be slower at two tenths for 0-62mph.           

It is always a struggle with 276hp for the VXR front wheels, where the torque steer would after pushing you into the nearest shrub with each of your throttle poke. However Seat says it has countered the problem with a new mechanical front to perk up traction, prevent torque steer and send hundred per cent power to a single wheel. You can also turn off the traction if you are feeling gutsy, something which you don’t tamper with a GOLF GTI.

On the looks front the car looks more aggressive than the Golf GTI with huge air intakes, acute angle LED headlights and double vents shooting out of the rear. Bigger 19” titanium paint wheels are fitted to the 280 models with red brake calipers with Cupra caption and also an aero package as an addition. 

The powerful 280s are priced at £26, 940 and the less powerful 261hp hatch at £25, 690. The price is very similar to the Astra VXR but the Leon Cupra is equipped with DAB Radio, automatic vipers, large LED headlamps as standard features. By the looks of the current looks of the Leon the interior is likely to be plusher.
