Vauxhall introduces the new diesel Meriva

The new Vauxhall Meriva is introduced and it is a family friendly face lifted small MPV from Vauxhall. It has a new infotainment system, a new front face and of course, a new engine. You might be wondering about a possible V8 but it is not. The car has been discarded the ancient 1.7 L and opted for a new 1.6 liter for Meriva. This one is much more effective and power has been upped by 6bhp with 134bhp and the torque is also raised to 236lb lb-ft.  In spite of the increased power the car is still eco-friendly with just 64.2mpg of CO2 and fuel economy.

Apart from the above statistics the Meriva on the whole is greatly improved version from Vauxhall. The turbo engine starts at a smooth 1,500rpm and purrs nicely under 2,000rpm in the 6th gear on highway. This is a really outstanding performance. It may not be a getaway car and is able to muster 9.9 seconds for achieving 0-62mph.

Is there any fresh technology found here? Yes, the car is installed with the latest intellilink set-up through which you can connect your Smartphone. The system does not jut work as a Bluetooth but allow the user to utilize the car’s screen in place of all the app stores in your phone. The system also allows you direct everything at the command of your voice. It also takes dictations from you though it is not novel nowadays with cars, but certainly a gift for a meek family vehicle.

Though not much change has been effected in its built, but the idea of the rear doors opening backward for easy access has been pioneered by Meriva. One fault you can find in the car is the odd resonance that you hear while you rush past the 1,500rpm.  Though it is not deafening it surely is s enough to create a little rattle in the cabin.
