While the Admiral and Kapitan has claimed to be the luxurious car for the period 1938 and around, the Opel Diplomat did the same for the period 1964 to 1977 with the releases happening under two big sections like Diplomat A(1964 to 1968) and Diplomat B(1969-1977). It has the six cylinder petrol engines built in-line with 2.6 or 2.8 litre tank capacities. The special features about this model are the rub strips on the flanks, newly available recirculating ball steering and heated rear windows. When power is calculated it was found that A has only one type of transmission, the 2 speed powerglide automatic. However the B series have come up with various types of transmission, 4 speed manual, 3 speed automatic and the most interesting 3 speed turbo hydramatic automatic shortly referred as V8 which has gained the market pulse.
