Renault 4 has two other names; 4L and Quatrelle and it was a hatchback economy car that was produced by Renault from 1961 to 1992. The history of the 4L is that it happens to be the first car that was the very first front-wheel drive family car produced by Renault. It is an astonishing fact that more than 1 million units were already produced by 1966 and overall 8 million were produced because of high demand.
Even though it has been categorized as a small estate car, still it was exceptionally spacious given its size but it is regarded as a hatchback family car. It is also to be noted that R3 and R4 were released side by side and shared almost the same specifications but the R3 had 603 cc version of the engine while the R4 featured a 747 cc engine. 3-speed manual and a 4 speed manual transmission was installed in the Renault 4.
